Our Aquarium

We bought an aquarium back on Dec 8th, 2007. It has finally 'cycled'. We returned from our Colorado trip, and the Nitrites, Nitrates and Ammonia were all 'zero'. Brianna and Jordan were excited to get more fish, so we got a bunch of Neon Tetras (Blue and red tiny fish). Currently working on getting rid of some algae. We'll get more Neon's if these ones survive (Neon's are rather fragile)

All the green, and green/red plants in the middle are 'real'.. The 2 reddish brown plants on either side or fake.

Julie (and recently Jordan) love to eat breakfast in front of the aquarium.....

Our last day at Steamboat

We had a great week of skiing at Steamboat. The snow was great, and Brianna learned alot.

Both Julie and I got some great work down at One Stop Ski Shop on our boots by John. He did a great job on my custom footbed (orthotic), and also blew out my boot to accomodate my wide feet. It's the 1st time I can remember skiing on black runs that didn't hurt my feet. He also got Julie some footbeds and custom boots that allow her to ski pain free. Thanks John. They also had great rate on rental equipment. I got 6 days of fat ski rentals for about $100US

Brianna progressed alot during her week of skiing. She even tried a blue run today, as well as some "jumps" and tree skiing.

Can't wait to come back.... Next time, we'll bring Jordan.... Anyone wanna come?

Julie loves this action shot of Brianna racing down the hill.
(Julie snapped and editted this shot - Great Work)

I thought this poster was pretty funny. It was on the wall at the Slopeside Bar where we had lunch today..... They really love their horses here in Colorado....

Brianna's 4th day of skiing

Today was Brianna's 4th 'real' day of skiing. She's doing great! She can do pizza (wedge stop), turns and 'french fries' - pointing her skis downhill to pick up speed. We did a couple runs on a triple chair - Preview (green run), and she was awesome. We went into a huge line for the gondola and rode up to the top. We literally got into the line when it was at it's longest point. There were probably a thousand people in line, but taking 8 people every 15 seconds, the wait was probably less than 20minutes.

Brianna and Daddy - going down Preview

Midway down "Why Not" - the longest run at Steamboat. It's more than 3miles long and drops about 2200 feet.

Some work at the end of the day on "Li'l Rodeo" which is off the Christie Express Midstation. Brianna was a bit nervous loading up on the hi-speed quad, but she did fine.

Video of Brianna going down a run from the top of the Gondola.

This is a picture taken by the photographers at Sharpshooter imaging... This hi -grain, low resolution picture cost $35US plus tax for two 5x7's. I really should increase my prices.....

Tomorrow, we're going to head up on the Gondola 1st thing and do a couple runs with Brianna, and then I may hit a couple of black diamonds.... My favourites so far are Twilight and Oops.

More Steamboat

Julie, my beautiful wife

me

Brianna made a new friend today, Hannah. Her teacher said they were giggling the whole day. They are 2 silly 5yr olds (Hanna's actually 'five and a half' - according to Brianna). They probably spent the whole day doing silly things like this. Apparently, this is how u're supposed to ride the magic carpet at Steamboat.

Brianna demonstrating her wedge/pizza technique for stopping. Tomorrow, they are taught turning.....

Mommy, and Brianna after ski-school

Brianna enjoying some well deserved Gatorade ($4US for the bottle)

We have an outdoor pool and 2 hot tubs at The Steamboat Grand hotel.
With the ambient air temperature being around -13C, it creates alot of steam/fog above the pool. We all swam outside today while it snowed.
(manual focused in the dark, and snapped while the mist passed)

Here's mommy trying not to look cold.
(that's not gray, that 's actually frozen hair, and snow)
